Right after the seven foot Mind flayer spoke to us, we initiated combat with the creature and the large brain in the pool of what I hope to water. Right as we started to strike the Mind flayer, two beholders appeared from behind the brain to start assisting the seven foot monster in the fight. It took us a bit of time to figure out that the Mind flayer casted some kind of magic wall to stop anything physical from going past it, so we got close to it and waited for it to attack us when the wall went down. I tried to stay near my companions, since I could feel the psychic powers of the Mind flayer and the brain attempting to crawl into our minds. My Aura of Protection would assist in stopping anything happening, as long as everyone stayed about ten feet within range of me. Sadly, almost everything went to shit after the Mind flayer mind blasted everyone, hurting everyone in the group. Pup saw a hog tied and nude Tiefling in the very corner of the large room, but it was blocked by the mind flayer. After a minute, when everyone was starting to get more banged up, Pup went to the Tiefling to go set them loose. He immediately went to his pile of loot and gear to get a pan flute out, and summoned a cloud of daggers in front of the large brain. Pup tried to get the Bard to stay within five feet of the big brain to attack it harder. Suddenly, I was moved across the room. I made my way back to the front of the brain to fight the other two beholders, but I went for the Mind flayer first. I threw both of my javelins into the Mind flayer, dealing quite a bit of damage to it. Usk moved up to me to try and heal me, since I was really banged up. He only got in the line of fire, since he was targeted by the Mind flayer, who knocked him unconscious and was about to start extracting Usk’s brain, so he can eat it. Luckily, the seven foot tall Mind flayer dropped to the ground, dead. Someone had killed it, but my focus was already on the two Beholders and the giant brain. Looking into the Beholder’s eye shot fear through my body. I don’t know why, but I assumed it was magic that caused the fear. Another thing was, was that I couldn’t move! I used my axe to slay one beholder, but I missed. I used my next swing to finish the job. I started to reach my hand to myself to cast lay on hands, but I was already knocked unconscious. When I woke up, the brain had disappeared, and the second Beholder was slain. We met up with the Tiefling, who hadn’t actually introduced himself yet. We noticed a light coming from behind the Tiefling, who WAS unconscious directly behind the giant brain. We opened the door and saw a dusty room with multiple chests, and a couple of treasures. I wasn’t too terribly interested in the ashen staff that I saw, but I was most interested in the Ring and the Belt. The Tiefling used Identify on the treasures, which were indeed magic, since Ari had put everything we found in the center of the room and casted detect magic. The magic carpet was a flying carpet, which could hold up to 200lbs before having to move more slowly. The Belt was a belt that enhanced the strength of the wearer. The Ring was a regeneration ring. The Staff could cast magic for an amount of charges, and would recharge on it’s own. We divided the gold and platinum up, and gave the treasures to whomever we seemed most fit to take. The Ashen staff could only go to a Wizard or Storm sorceress, and went to Medivh, since Iyhia already had a magic sword. The Ring went to Dra’kun, since he would most likely be in the front lines most of the time. I kind of wanted it, but I understood why it would go to him though, since he’s way more of a tank than I am. The carpet went to Ari, since could now be able to move faster to reach her companions and heal them more easily. And finally, the Belt. The Belt went to me, since I could do with a better strength, to even be able to compete with the large Goliath. We all rested, and then went to go have a chat with the Mole, or Worm, whichever his nickname is. Iyhia had Cuscus go follow his scent, after we made it past the closed doors behind us. I picked five more mushrooms up from the cave, just in case they were a tasty treat… Anyways, we made it to the Worm, and he was climbing a ladder. Iyhia used her diplomatic skills to charm the gnome, and made him climb down, after short dialogue, we got him to show us a way to go home. He explained to us that there was a tavern with a portal back to Faerun. We had him take us to there. Worm talked nonsense about making a shiny boat to go sail the stars. He offered to take us on a ride when he invented it. Iyhia said no, but I kind of wanted to see about the shiny boat that would sail the stars. Maybe some other time, then. We went into the Tavern, and paid our five hundred gold each to go to Faerun. The portal led to the City of Neverwinter, and when we saw the first person there, Dra’kun decided to ask what year it was. When we left, the year was 1489. The man replied with: “It’s 1531.” We traveled into the future?! I wonder if I can still get my castle? We all decided to go to Llira’s Blessings, and we all got a room. Iyhia and Buckman got their own room, which I assume was the most nice one they could get. It was only two gold per day. The luxary room had a very comfy room, and a bathroom. I decided to take that offer, and took the first bath in what seems to be a long time, since we apparently time traveled to the future. The thought hurt my head, since I added another 42 years to my life in this realm? I could be called 102 years old now, but I’m only a young adult Dwarf, by Dwarven standards. We all decided to have some down time to decide what we’ll do now. I want to go find my castle, and start my kingdom. I know it will be great, as long as I use my investment correctly toward the castle. Perhaps I’ll start a church, and train Paladins to help rid the realm, and other realms of evil. I’ll have to start somewhere. Randal Buckman was supposed to help me, according to Raven Moonstar. I’ll have to pay him a visit sometime, since it’s been 42 years since he’s seen me, even though it’s been less than a year for me seeing him. I plan on getting rid of the “Shadow” cloak, getting Plate armor, and doing a bit of research with Buckman to see if we can find my castle, since he is supposed to help me. Of course, I’ll have to do a bit more research on politics, economics, and other things that a kingdom needs to start with.
